By Dov Lieber - December 10, 2017
Amid mounting anger over the US decision to recognize Jerusalem
as Israels capital, the Jordanian
- parliament on Sunday voted unanimously to review the 1994
peace deal with Israel.
- The parliament authorized a legal committee to examine all
agreements signed with Israel, including the
- peace treaty, in order to take a decision on them, the leading
Jordanian daily al-Ghad reported. The step is seen as largely
symbolic as matters of foreign policy are mostly decided by Jordans
Royal court rather than parliament. Jordan has strong security
relations with Israel, while social and civil communications
between the two countries remains low.
- Israel and Jordan are also currently embroiled in a dispute
after an Israeli security guard at the embassy in Jordan shot
and killed a teen who tried to stab him. A bystander was also
killed. Jordan has refused to allow the embassy staff to return
until the guard has been put on trial. Israel believes he acted
- Thousands of Jordanians took to the streets on Friday in
order to protest Trumps decision on recognizing Jerusalem
as Israels capital. Jordan has a special stake in Jerusalem.
Its monarch is the religious guardian of the Muslim holy sites
- the Temple Mount, and the kingdom has a large Palestinian
population. In a Wednesday address from the White House, Trump
defied worldwide warnings and insisted that after repeated failures
to achieve peace a new approach was long overdue, describing
his decision to recognize Jerusalem as the seat of Israels
government as merely based on reality.
- The move was hailed by Israels Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahu and by leaders across much of the Israeli
- political spectrum. Trump stressed that he was not specifying
the boundaries of Israeli sovereignty in the city, and called
for no change in the status quo at the citys holy sites.

- ARAB STATES URGE U.S. TO ABANDON JERUSALEM MOVE
- Foreign ministers late on Saturday urged the United States
to abandon its decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital,
saying the move would increase violence throughout the region.
The announcement by President Donald Trump on Wednesday was a
"dangerous violation of international law," had no
legal impact and was "void," the Arab League said in
a statement after a session attended by all its members in Cairo.
Trump's endorsement of Israel's claim to all of Jerusalem as
its capital would reverse long-standing U.S. policy that the
city's status must be decided in negotiations with the Palestinians,
who want East Jerusalem as the capital of their future state.
"The decision has no legal effect ... it deepens tension,
ignites anger and threatens to plunge region into more violence
and chaos," the Arab League said at 3 a.m. local time after
hours of meetings that began on Saturday evening.
It said it would seek a U.N. Security Council resolution rejecting
the U.S. move.
Lebanon's Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil said during the emergency
meeting that Arab nations should consider imposing economic sanctions
against the United States to prevent it moving its Israel embassy
to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv.
"Pre-emptive measures (must be) taken ... beginning with
diplomatic measures, then political, then economic and financial
sanctions," he said, without giving specific details.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday said his
country would not tolerate the recognition of Jerusalem as Israels
capital. Jerusalem is our red line. Any steps against Jerusalems
historic status and holiness are unacceptable, Erdogan
said, adding that his country will work toward international
recognition of the Palestinian state and seek the support of
the European Union. In a move that delighted much of Israels
leadership but ignited protests across the Muslim world, US President
Donald Trump announced on December 6 that the US recognized Jerusalem
as the capital of Israel and planned to move its embassy there
from Tel Aviv. Trump stressed that he was not specifying the
boundaries of Israeli sovereignty in the city, and called for
no change in the status quo at the citys holy sites.

- THE REAL PALESTINIAN RESPONSE TO TRUMP'S JERUSALEM SPEECH
By Bassam Tawil - By misrepresenting the poster burning "ceremony"
as a reflection of widespread Palestinian rage concerning Trump's
policy on Jerusalem, the international media is once again complicit
in promoting the propaganda of Palestinian spin doctors. The
journalists, including photographers and camera crews, have been
handed detailed schedules of events that will take place in different
parts of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
- When we sit in our living rooms and watch the news coming
out of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, let us ask ourselves: How
many of these "events" are, in fact, media burlesques?
Why are journalists allowing themselves to be duped by the Palestinian
propaganda machine, which spews hatred and violence from morning
- It is high time for some self-reflection on the part of the
media: Do they really wish to continue serving as a mouthpiece
for those Arabs and Muslims who intimidate and terrorize the
West? The "rivers of blood" we are being promised are
flowing as we speak. Yet, it is the knife that Arabs and Muslims
take to one another's throats that is the source of this crimson
current, not some statement made by a US president. Perhaps that
could finally be an event worth covering by the roving reporters
of the region?
- A short three hours after US President Donald Trump phoned
Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas to inform
him of his intention to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to
Jerusalem, a number of Palestinian photojournalists received
a phone call from Bethlehem. The callers were Palestinian "activists,"
who invited the photographers to come to the city to document
an "important event." When the photographers arrived,
they discovered that the "important event" was a handful
of Palestinian "activists" who wanted to burn posters
of Trump in front of the cameras. The "activists" waited
patiently as the photojournalists and cameramen set up their
equipment to get the "important event" on film. Shortly
thereafter, the media was abuzz with reports about "angry
Palestinian protesters taking to the streets to protest"
Trump's intention to move the embassy to Jerusalem and his recognition
of the city as the capital of Israel. The handful of Palestinians
who were filmed burning the Trump pictures were made to look
as if they were part of a mass protest sweeping Palestinian communities.

Israeli warplanes rained down missiles on Gaza overnight in retaliation
for rockets shot into Israel as violent protests continued today
following Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the country's
capital. Targets included two weapons manufacturing sites, a
military compound and an arsenal. Reports in Gaza said that 15
people were injured in the strikes, including a six-month-old
boy. Two members of Hamas were killed by strikes on the Hamas
facility at Nusseirat in central Gaza, officials said. The attack
was a response to rocket fire from the Gaza Strip on Friday which
forced Israeli civilians in the south of the country to run for
cover as air raid sirens blared for the first time since the
unrest began. One rocket fell short, the second was intercepted
by Israel's Iron Dome missile defence system, and one landed
in the southern Israeli city of Sderot, damaging property but
causing no casualties.
- The Israeli Defence Force blamed Palestine for the deaths
and injuries caused by its retaliation. It said in a statement:
'The IDF views the shooting at Israeli communities severely.
Hamas is solely responsible for what happens in the Gaza Strip.'

- POPE WORRIED OVER TRUMP'S PLAN ON JERUSALEM
By Reuters - December 6, 2017 - VATICAN CITY - Pope Francis,
speaking hours before U.S. President Donald Trumps announcement
on Jerusalem, called on Wednesday for the citys status
quo to be respected, saying new tension in the Middle East
would further inflame world conflicts. Trump is due on Wednesday
to recognize Jerusalem as Israels capital and set in motion
the relocation of the U.S. Embassy to the ancient city, senior
U.S. officials said, a decision that upends decades of U.S. policy
and risks fueling further violence in the Middle East. In an
appeal at the end of his weekly general audience, Francis called
for all to honor United Nations resolutions on the city, which
is sacred to Jews, Christians and Muslims.
- I make a heartfelt appeal so that all commit themselves
to respecting the status quo of the city, in conformity with
the pertinent resolutions of the United Nations, he said.
The Vatican backs a two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli
conflict, with both sides agreeing on the status of Jerusalem
as part of the peace process. Palestinians want East Jerusalem
as the capital of their future independent state, whereas Israel
has declared the whole city to be its united and eternal
capital. The pope told thousands of people at his general audience:
I cannot keep quiet about my deep worry about the situation
that has been created in the last few days.

the passage of a resolution on the matter is unlikely.

of Jerusalem as Israels capital, stating that America remains
a credible peace partner in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

- PREPARING OIL FOR THE TEMPLE MENORAH
- Friday Church News Notes, November 24, 2017 - The Mount Zion
Group is preparing special olive oil in preparation for the Third
Temple. " The oil-making is part of an ongoing effort by
the Mount Zion Association to recreate Temple rituals and become
familiar with them in every detail, so they can be reinstated
without delay, should the need arise in the near future"
("Sanhedrin/Mount Zion Group Prepares Oil," Breaking
Israel News, Nov. 16, 2017). The oil is made from trees in Amona
in the territory of the tribe of Benjamin. The oil is made by
beating, as per the instructions in Exodus 27:20, as opposed
to the normal method of crushing and pressing. Olive oil comes
from the olive seed, not from the meat or pulp. Beating the olives
produces oil in less quantity but of a superior quality. About
450 pounds of olives produces 25 quarts of oil. The preparation
for the Third Temple is in high gear. The Temple Institute and
others will tell you that they do not know how it will be built,
but they are sure that it will be built and they sense that the
time is drawing near. Not believing Bible prophecy, they do not
know that the Third Temple will be occupied by the Antichrist.
See Daniel 9:27; Matthew 24:15; 2 Thessalonians 2:3-9. Revelation
chapter 11 describes the measuring of the temple during the ministry
of the Two Witnesses who will prophesy during the first 3.5 years
of the Antichrists reign during which a peace covenant
will be in effect.

the Persian king who ended the Babylonian exile and helped build
the Second Jewish Temple. "There have been amazing advances

- PLANNED WESTERN WALL TRAIN STATION TO BE NAMED FOR TRUMP
- Yisrael Katz approves extension of Tel Aviv-Jerusalem high
speed line to Old City, reserving special honor for US president
By TOI staff and AP - Today, 12:28 pm -
A controversial plan to place a train station in the heart of
Jerusalems Old City and whisk tourists from Ben-Gurion
Airport to the Western Wall may have a controversial name attached
to it: Donald Trump.
Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz said a planned train station
would be named after US President Donald Trump, who earlier this
month recognized Jerusalem as Israels capital and vowed
to move the US embassy to the city. Katzs plan, currently
in the initial planning stage, involves extending the upcoming
high-speed Jerusalem-Tel Aviv train line to the Old City. The
plan would involve constructing two underground stations and
excavating over two miles (three kilometers) of tunnel beneath
downtown Jerusalem and under the politically and historically
sensitive Old City. The Western Wall is the holiest site where
Jews can pray. Transportation Ministry spokesman Avner Ovadia
said Wednesday the project is estimated to cost more than $700
million and, if approved, would take four years to complete.
