MORMONISM
Church
1) The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is "The
only true church and living church upon the face of the whole
earth." (Mormon Doctrine by Bruce R.McConkie, p. 136, Doctrine
and Covenants 1:30)
Temples
1) Temples are constructed for the purposes of performing certain
ordinances for the living and the dead. (Mormon Doctrine, pp.779-780)
Priests
1) "...Priesthood is the power and authority of God delegated
to man on earth." (Mormon Doctrine, p. 594)
2) "If a man gets the fullness of the priesthood of God,
he has to get it in the same way that Jesus Christ obtained it,
and that was by keeping all the commandments and obeying all
the ordinances of the house of the Lord." (Temple) (Mormon
Doctrine, p. 482)
Pre-Existence
1) Every person on earth was first a spirit child of God and
a heavenly mother on another planet before born physically on
this earth to earthly parents. (Mormon Doctrine pp.589-590)
CHRISTIANITY
Church
The church is the body of believers in Jesus Christ (I Corinthians
12:12-27, Ephesians 1:22-23, Romans 12: 4-5, Hebrews 3:1-6)
Temples
Not Necessary. At Jesus' death the curtain in the temple was
torn in two. We now have direct access to God through Jesus.
This is the new way that surpasses the old way of priests and
temples. Our body is His temple now. (Luke 23:44-46, I Timothy
2:5, Hebrews 9:11-28, 10:10-12, 19-22, I Corinthians 6: 19-20,
I John 4:12-16, Ephesians 3:16-19, John 14:23, II Corinthians
6:16, Acts 17:24)
Priests
1.Christ has all power and authority in heaven and on earth and
is the High Priest of his church. (Hebrews 4:14, 7:24-25, 8:1-2,
9:24, I Tim:2:5)
2.Christ's priesthood is unchangeable and cannot be passed on.
(Hebrews 7:24, see footnote to this verse also.)
Pre-Existence
1.No pre-existence. We are born a physical being on this earth
first, then we experience the second birth that Jesus spoke of
in John 3, we are "born again" of the spirit, and become
a part of the kingdom of God. (John 3:3-8, Psalms 139, II Cor.
5:17, I Cor. 15:46, Colossians 1:13, James 2:5, II Peter 1: 11)
